Elsy Wameyo

Elsy was born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya before migrating to Adelaide, Australia at the age of 7 with her family.

Elsy Wameyo started singing in church at a young age, and was greatly influenced by the traditional sacred sounds. Gospel music began shaping her musical vision after realising the gift God placed within her.

She officially began her music career after opening the Playback 808 concert in July 2017. A natural performer, she continued to peruse a performance career after being noticed by the founder of Playback 808 DyspOra.

Elsy has since managed to appear at shows including Scouted, the Root Down Festival, Groovin’ the Moo, Laneway Festival, South Australian Music Awards and made her first appearance on national television (ABC's Tonightly show with Tom Ballard).

She has featured with publications such as REDBULL MUSIC/THANK GUARD, Tone Deaf Music and City Mag whilst also performing alongside artists such as Sampa the Great, Masego, Adrian Eagle, Thundamentals and Lady Leshur. After winning the Young Kenyan of the Year 2018, she was also awarded Best Hip Hop artist at the South Australian Music Awards 2019.
