Divebar Youth

Divebar Youth is a moniker used by singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Vinnie Barbaro.

The Adelaide-based artist began releasing music under the title Divebar Youth in 2019. Music was always a part of Vinnie’s life growing up. His childhood was filled with big bands, blues, and jazz, having picked up the guitar at the age of eight as his first instrument.

A melting pot of influences from different periods in time have resulted in Divebar Youth developing an interesting blend of sounds in his releases. His latest single, "Baby Blue" landed impressively with listeners and received weekly airplay throughout January on Triple J "Summer Arvos." Continuing the breezy tone set by Baby Blue with his next release "Never That Easy", he has quickly found himself securing a sound that encapsulates a movement of artists seeking to pay homage to jazz and funk, while freely welcoming influence from relevant rap and pop of today.

Performing in different acts in the past, he had the chance to support artists including Chet Faker, Simple Plan and Spacey Jane. In 2020, his single Obsess slingshot him into the Australian music scene and allowed Divebar Youth to open up for artists including Fergus James on his first headline national tour and supporting Ed Sheeran, and Hayley Mary, lead singer of The Jezabels.

Divebar Youth has also had the chance to support Adelaide artists including Pinkish Blu and The Montreals. Consistently aiming to grow his audience, he has reached over 15,000 monthly listeners worldwide on Spotify with the single "Sour Taste" gaining 140,000 streams on the platform in six months. 2021 has seen him make his way to an interstate audience in Melbourne at Our Pride of Footscray and sell out a hometown show. He is now back to recording releases for 2021.
