New Music Alert: Mum Friends
Mum Friends are turning left into new sounds and new feelings with their new single ‘Rush’, out today.
Packed full of lush guitars and reverberating harmonies, Mum Friends call ‘Rush’ “the queer love story you never knew (or always knew) you needed”. Already cemented as a hometown favourite, the new release arrives off the back of the Adelaide duo’s debut singles ‘Rails’ and ‘Woke Fuckboy’.
Speaking of the track, lead vocalist and guitarist Katie Wright says:
“This release is about moving in with your girlfriend maybe a little too soon, and moving through the strong feelings of love, fear and excitement. I began writing it the week we decided my girlfriend would move in permanently, inspired by something I saw that said “daydreams are plans for the future”. Recording ‘Rush’ was a lot of fun. We already had a well thought out and developed demo, but were initially stuck on who we would ask to do the official recording. Annie has been studying sound this year at uni and V has a music degree from QUT, this will be Annie’s first release as a producer as well so it’s very exciting! It’s always been a goal of ours to work with non-men in the industry and working with our best friends has been the best.”
‘Rush’ arrives following Mum Friends’ selection as one of four grant recipients through N1 Records this year - the artist development program supported by Adelaide’s Northern Sound System.
